Dear APSA/DC Members,
Welcome to the 2014-15 academic school year and the fall session of Debate!
There are a few changes that haven take place that are important to know. First, Juan Zucchero will once again act as faculty advisor to the APSA/DC. We are glad to welcome him back in this capacity and are excited for this new chapter in Debate!
Debate has always been a student run and student lead organization, and it no doubt will remain the same. In fact, it is due to the work and dedication of students that the organization was officially recognized for its work and contributions to the school and to the curriculum of social studies education, this is quite an accomplishment and we could not be prouder.
Our plans this year includes an expansion of membership and a new "civic" action-based activity component. This is an exciting new chapter, this new platform will allow Debate to further its work in teaching the art of debating, continue teaching methods for critical analysis, continue teaching effective discussion and argumentation techniques, and speech making. Most important of all, we can continue working toward our cause, that is to help educate and empower our students/members. We hope that you will be equipped not only to understand the pressing sociopolitical issues facing our society, but that you will also be able to offer solutions rather than just problems. This is a most worthy endeavor and it is one we hope you will continue to join us on.
-The APSA/DC Council
